ARC Raiders pulse mine zipline

In Embark Studios’ extraction shooter, ARC Raiders, verticality is everything. Moving between looting zones often means taking long, exposed vertical ziplines. While these lines are meant for quick traversal, clever players have turned them into efficient death traps using one specific piece of utility: the Pulse Mine.

Combining a Pulse Mine with a high-altitude zipline creates an incredibly frustrating, often uncounterable trap designed to wipe out incoming raiders without firing a single bullet.

The Pulse Mine Zipline Trap Strategy

The beauty of this trap relies entirely on the physics of the Pulse Mine and the game’s hardcoded movement mechanics.

  • The Setup: A player travels to the top of a long vertical zipline—popular spots include the launch towers at the Spaceport or the Dam control tower. They plant a Pulse Mine right at the absolute edge of the top landing platform.

  • The Radius: The Pulse Mine has a compact trigger and blast radius. The moment an enemy climber hits the top of the line, the mine activates. It deals zero direct damage, but its massive kinetic blast applies an aggressive knockback to anything caught inside its zone.

  • The Trap: In ARC Raiders, players automatically eject from a zipline the exact microsecond they reach the top landing pad. Because you cannot shoot or dodge while riding the line, climbing raiders have zero frames to react.

  • Why it’s Lethal: The moment you step off the cable, the mine triggers, catching you mid-eject. The blast forces your character into a locked ragdoll/tumble animation. Because you are in a hard-stunned state, the game prevents you from deploying gadgets or re-grabbing the zipline rope. You simply slide off the platform and plunge all the way back down to the ground. Falling from a 30-to-60-meter tower results in instant death from massive fall damage, allowing the camper to safely walk down and scoop up your dropped backpack.

Countering the Trap

If you are worried about running into "rat" players camping high-tier key rooms with this setup, you can protect your hard-earned kit by utilizing a few proactive counter-strategies.

Listen Closely

Pulse Mines emit a very distinct, low-frequency proximity hum when they are active. However, on exceptionally tall towers (like the Spaceport launch pads), the vertical distance will completely mask the sound until you are already halfway up the line and committed. Use your ears before hooking onto shorter lines.

The Manual Detach Trick

Instead of riding the zipline all the way to the top automated ejection point, you can manually disconnect early. If you press your jump/disconnect key right before hitting the roof line, your momentum will carry you upward just enough to trigger the mine's proximity sensor. You will then fall backward down the shaft before the blast wave hits you, completely baiting out the trap. From there, you can ride the line again safely or toss up an impact grenade to clear out any remaining backup traps.

Gear Up Before You Drop

Surviving the unforgiving landscape of Speranza requires the best gear possible. If you want to bypass the grueling extraction grind to unlock top-tier weapons and tools, you can utilize external market resources like U4N to buy arc raiders ultimate gear blueprints. Having a fully optimized loadout ensures that even if you take a bad engagement, your armor and backup gadgets give you a fighting chance.

Secret Pulse Mine Tech (Self-Defense)

Ironically, the very item used to cause fatal falls can also be used to prevent them. High-level raiders have discovered a unique piece of "free-fall tech" using the Pulse Mine for fall damage cancellation.

If you are trapped on a massive crane or rooftop during a chaotic squad fight and your only option is to leap off a 40-meter drop, you can use the mine as a safety net:

  1. Look straight down at the ground or ledge below as you fall.

  2. Drop a Pulse Mine mid-air and shoot it (or time its detonation) so the blast hits you right before you impact the solid ground.

  3. The blast applies a "push animation" to your character. Because the game prioritize the knockback state over the falling state, your downward velocity momentum is entirely reset.

While it requires precise timing, mastering this trick allows you to hit the concrete at terminal velocity with zero impact damage, turning a cheese trap item into a literal lifesaver.
